The gouge allows removing for analysis a sample of flesh from a melon or from another fruit. It is fitted with a sliding ring that allows easy removal of the core from the gouge.

Core size is 3 mm diameter, length up to 5 cm.

How to use the sampling gouge :

Pull the sliding ring back up towards the handle. Push the needle into the melon over a length of 3 to 4 cm. Turn the handle so as to break off the sample inside the fruit. Remove the gouge with the sample inside it. Push out the core from the needle using the sliding ring. Run the analysis using an optical refractometer.
